The 2026 Resurfacing project will provide pavement rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements, and drainage improvements to Main Street, Dolph Reservoir access road, and miscellaneous sidewalks.

Dolph Reservoir is a 3-million-gallon water holding tank located off of Val Imm Drive near the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. The reservoir has an access road approximately 350 feet in length which City staff utilize to access the reservoir for routine maintenance and data collection.

Restoration work on Main Street will take place the week of 9/14 with the goal to get turf established this fall.  The contractor will be on site working on the traffic signal at Main Street and Division Street the end of the week of 9/7 and into the week of 9/14.  The signal will be activated on 9/15 pending any delays.  

Concrete work on Dolph Road started this week.  Paving will take place on Dolph Road late the week of 9/14.  When Dolph Road is complete in the next couple weeks, the contractor will move the traffic control from Val Imm to Madison Avenue to replace the one remaining section of sidewalk left on the miscellaneous sidewalk replacement portion of the project.

Main St is open to the public.  The contractor has some miscellaneous items to complete along main street including turf establishment and removal of u-channel from the traffic control.  Work on the Main Street and Division Street traffic signal will begin the week of 9/7 and is expected to take one week to complete.  There will be some minor disruptions to traffic in this area while work is being performed.  

Removals are complete at Dolph Road with grading complete and ready for concrete work.  Concrete work will begin the week of 9/7 with paving to follow.  The Dolph Road portion of the project is projected to be complete in two weeks.

Main Street is fully open to the public at this time with all way stop signs set up at the Division and Main Street intersection.  The contractor is waiting on some parts for the traffic signal to be delivered so they can get the signal operating.  The traffic signal work is expected to happen the week of 8/31.  Turf restoration work on Main Street and Miscellaneous sidewalk areas will be ongoing over the next couple weeks.  Traffic control has been set up on Val Imm Drive for the Dolph Road phase of the project to start Thursday, 8/27.  Val Imm Drive is open, the traffic control is creating a lane shift to allow room for the contractor to work safely.

Signing and striping were completed this week on stage C of the Main St Resurfacing project.  Main St will be fully open to the public on Friday, August 21st.  The electrical contractor is waiting for materials to complete the traffic signal at Division and Main St so that intersection will remain an all way stop until that work is able to be completed.  There will also be some turf restoration work happening along the entire Main St project area as well as the miscellaneous sidewalk replacement areas.

Dolph Road construction is scheduled to start Monday, August 24th with traffic control being placed on Val Imm Drive on Monday morning.  Two way traffic will remain but there will be a lane shift to allow more room for equipment to be operated safely.

The first layer of asphalt was completed early this week with crews working the remainder of the week on turf restoration, raising manholes and valve boxes, and miscellaneous concrete in preparation for the final layer of asphalt to be place on Friday, August 14th.  The week of August 17th crews will be installing the lane and crosswalk striping, signs, and completing miscellaneous items.  If there are no weather delays, Main Street is projected to open as early as Friday, August 21st.

Concrete work on the Stage C of the Main St project has been on going this week with completion of the concrete work projected to be Friday, 8/7.  City staff completed repairs of two catch basins that were in disrepair on Wednesday, 8/5.The contractor has been working on grading activity and removing excess aggregate from the reclaim process. They will be fine grading late this week in preparation for the first layer of asphalt to be placed Monday, August 10th and Tuesday, August 11th pending any delays.  Following the first layer of asphalt being placed they will raise the irons for the manholes and complete turf restoration prior to the final layer of asphalt.  Small utility work was completed this week at the intersection of Division Street and Main Street which will allow the concrete contractor to complete work at the intersection in the coming week.

Removals and reclamation work is complete on the Stage C portion of the Main Street resurfacing project from Clover Lane to South Victory Drive.  The contractor installed the new catch basin at Clover Lane and worked on prep work for the concrete crew to start forming on Monday August 3rd which will continue through the week.  Grading work will also take place late next week.

Phase 2 (Main Street between Garden Boulevard and Hannah Street) is substantially complete as of Friday, 7/24/26.  Phase 3 of the project (Main Street between Clover Lane and S. Victory Drive) is scheduled to begin Monday, August 27th at 7:00 am and is expected to take 1 month to complete.  There will be a detour route provided due to this work.

The first layer of asphalt was completed on Main Street Monday, 7/13.  Concrete work has been ongoing and will be complete by the end on the week with exception to the Division Street and Main Street intersection where small utility work will continue for the next week or two.  When the utility work is complete, the concrete contractor will be back to complete the sidewalk and pedestrian ramps at the intersection.  The contractor has spent the week prepping for the final layer of asphalt to be placed Friday, 7/17 which will start at 7 am and last all day.  Signing and striping work is scheduled to take place on stage A between Hannah Street and Garden Boulevard from Monday, 7/20 thru Wednesday 7/22.  Stage A from Hannah Street to Garden Boulevard is scheduled to be open to traffic on Friday, 7/24 and the stage C area from Clover Lane to Victory Drive is scheduled to close on Monday, 7/27 for the final phase of the Main Street project.

Concrete work was completed in the stage B area this week along with topsoil placement, seeding, and placement of erosion control blanket.  Paving of the final layer of asphalt was delayed yesterday due to the rain, however; they were able to complete paving at the intersections.  Paving will resume today, June 17, with the completion of the final layer of asphalt.  Signing and striping on the stage B area will take place 6/19 and 6/20 with the area being open to traffic at the end of the day on 6/22.

On 6/22 the stage A area of the project from Hannah Street to Garden Boulevard will be closed to traffic, however; local access will be provided to residents on Main Street, Dellview Lane, and the neighborhood that is accessible by Hannah Street.  Removals of curb and gutter, sidewalk, and select driveway approaches will begin the afternoon of 6/22.  Reclamation work will follow the removals.

Miscellaneous sidewalk repairs are taking place this week and should be complete by the end of the week.  Traffic control and road closure for the Stage A portion of the project from Hannah Street to Garden Boulevard went into place on Monday 6/22 and was completed on Tuesday 6/23.  The contractor started removals Tuesday 6/23 and completed removals on Wednesday 6/24.  Reclaiming work will begin today 6/25 and be completed Friday 6/26.  They have been working on prepping base for new concrete.  Concrete work will begin the week of 6/29 and carry over into the week of 7/6.  Utility relocate work is taking place at the intersection of Main Street and Division Street and is expected to take two to three weeks to complete.

The contractor worked on grading, aggregate removal, and concrete work this week.  The concrete work is projected to be completed mid next week with the exception being the Division Street intersection.  They will be working on electrical work for the traffic signals starting next week and continuing through the week.  They also plan to complete fine grading early next week in preparation for paving the first layer of asphalt which is scheduled to occur Thursday 7/9 and Friday 7/10.  The miscellaneous sidewalks have all been poured back except for two locations.  They will be working on restoring those areas as soon as we get some dry enough weather to do so.  The goal is to have these areas restored next week.

Concrete work has been on going this week and should be completed by the end of the week.  Small utility contractors have been working on relocation work at the Division Street and Main Street intersection.  The contractor has been working on grading work in preparation for the first layer of asphalt to be placed starting on Friday, 7/10 and carrying over into Monday, 7/13.  Once the first layer of asphalt is placed they will raise the castings and valve boxes to prepare for the final layer of asphalt to be placed late the week of 7/13 or early the week of 7/20 depending on weather.  They will also work on site restoration and seeding work on the miscellaneous sidewalk replacements throughout town and the Main St project area prior to the final layer of asphalt. The Dolph Road portion of the project is projected to start the week of 7/20.
